On The Level were asked to assist with creating wet room floors for two bathrooms in an East London renovation project.
The modern bathrooms were to use a seamless Microcement finish from floor to ceiling, which required a bespoke former to be created.
The regular SuperSlim former is designed to accommodate tiles which can vary in thicknesses from 8-15mm, however Microcement tends to be between just 2-3mm thick. This means that a bespoke SuperSlim channel is required to sit lower on the former to ensure a waterproof seal is created around the drain.
The SuperSlim channel has the design flexibility to have a high-quality stainless-steel finish or be reversed to be filled with Microcement creating the appearance of a seamless floor.
As Microcement needs to be applied to a strong and stable surface our FSC certified birch ply formers, along with our full-sized waste supports, provide the strength and stability needed.
Tanking (waterproofing) is not necessary on Microcement formers, as the Microcement acts as a waterproof barrier.
